Mark Smith, aka "Sparky", started throwing in the early 1990 in Chicago. It has been a "side passion" for over 25 years... as a banker in Chicago, an innkeeper and owner of Woolverton Inn in Stockton, New Jersey and now a partner and photo stylist in Jumping Rocks Photography with his partner and photographer Matthew Lovette, Mark has never been far away from his wheel. He is also an accomplished public speaker on design and hospitality  and has spoken at innkeeping conferences all over the US. 

Mark studied Animal Science at The University of Delaware  (WTF??) but honed his pottery talents at various studios from Chicago to Philadelphia, including the prestigious Peters Valley School of Craft in the Delaware Water Gap region in New Jersey. For the last 15 years Mark has produced his work out of The Clay Studio in The Old City area of Philadelphia.
